Climate change committee member fears government change of tune

Advocates of strong measures to combat climate change despite the recession are unsettled by the 3 October Tory party conference speech by Chancellor George Osborne.

In the speech, reported by Research Fortnight Today on 4 October, Osborne said the UK would not be set more ambitious climate targets than elsewhere in Europe, and that a decade of climate-change regulation had increased energy bills.
