Liverpool continues to grow China campus
The University of Liverpool’s Xi’an Jiaotong University in China will have 8,000 undergraduate and 2,000 postgraduate students by 2014-15, Howard Newby, the university’s vice-chancellor said. Current government higher-education policy has inadvertently made it highly attractive to move activities offshore with incentives such as avoiding visa problems and administrative burdens, he said. While this is good for individual institutions like his, it could be bad news for the UK as a whole.
