The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs invites applications for its call for the appraisal of cost effective policy instruments to tackle the impact from pesticides.
The aim of the project is to create and appraisal that can be used to aid relevant UK regulators in decision making on how best to address directive non-compliance arising as the result of agricultural use of pesticides and other plant protection products, using the molluscicide metaldehyde and propyzyamide as proxy substances. The options appraisal should also consider and provide a flexible approach for compliance with the requirements of water legislation in general to aid decision-making where there is non-compliance in the future. The projects objectives are to: agree and set out the methodology for the options appraisal; set out the regulatory and policy landscape which governs marketing and use of metaldehyde and propyzamide, and which is driving the need for action; identification of measures and mechanisms for addressing directive non-compliance; selection of options; quantifying costs, benefits and risks associated with each option.
