The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs invites applications for a review on the contribution of marine protected areas to protecting highly mobile species in English waters.
The review will comprise of two parts; the first part will focus on: an overview of the effectiveness and practicability of MPAs for highly mobile marine species, including seabirds and other birds; the importance of biological processes, management regimes and other factors that affect the performance of MPAs for highly mobile species and lessons learned from existing MPAs. The second part of the project will focus on MPAs and proposed MCZs in English inshore and offshore regions and their contribution to the conservation of highly mobiles species, including birds.
