The UK government’s forthcoming life-sciences strategy will tackle the problems of translational research and address how the NHS can improve its uptake of innovation, Research Fortnight has learned.
The 5 to 10-year strategy is being developed by the Office for Life Sciences, based within the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, but is being coordinated by Number 10. The strategy is likely to be aligned with a report due out this month from the NHS chief executive, David Nicholson. This will look at how the adoption and diffusion of innovation can be accelerated across the NHS.
