Philip Morris International, the makers of Marlboro cigarettes, has dropped its Freedom of Information request to Stirling University for research data involving confidential interviews with thousands of 11- to 16-year-olds about their attitudes towards tobacco marketing.
The company was due to respond to Stirling’s refusal to disclose the interviews within 40 working days, but has not done so, the Independent reported on 26 November. That means it would have to start over again to if it wants to pursue the matter.
