Police warn off anti-cuts demonstrators

Metropolitan Police plans to prevent violence at a demonstration against education cuts in central London on 9 November have included sending letters warning off those convicted of previous incidents, The Guardian reports.

In advance of a march expected to attract 10,000 students and other protestors, the police admitted that letters had been sent to anyone arrested in connection with previous public disorder offences even if they were later cleared or charges were dropped.
