University ordered to release primate-research details

Public research organisations may be forced to reveal details of controversial animal research, after a ruling ordering Newcastle University to disclose information on its research on primates under the freedom of information act.

The Information Tribunal ruled in favour of the British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection, which requested the details of two licences to conduct experiments on monkeys in 2008.
