Academics warn of private-provider expansion risk

Almost 500 UK professors have voiced concerns that the government’s planned expansion of private higher-education providers could threaten academic standards.

In an open letter in the Telegraph on 7 December, they said that the acquisition of struggling universities by private equity firms could lead to high drop-out rates and lower standards.
