Defra EOI: gap analysis of ecosystem effects research to inform Defra’s future research into the impacts of air pollution on the natural environment

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs invites expressions of interest for a gap analysis of ecosystem effects research to inform Defra’s future research into the impacts of air pollution on the natural environment.

A consortium is to carry out a gap analysis of ecosystem effects research to inform Defra’s future research into the impacts of air pollution on the natural environment. Areas of specific expertise that must be covered in the consortium include: impacts of key pollutants on the natural environment. (HM’s, NOx, NH3, SO2, POPs, O3); the effects of atmospheric pollutants on UK terrestrial broad habitat types; the effects of atmospheric pollutants on UK freshwater ecosystems, in particular those in upland areas; developing and carrying out empirical research to inform our understanding of the impacts of atmospheric pollution; developing and carrying out modelling-based research to inform our understanding of the impacts of atmospheric pollution; the development and application of critical levels and loads.
