Learned societies to nominate ‘exceptional’ immigrants

Learned societies will be able to nominate 1,000 “exceptionally talented” individuals for immigration to the UK, under rules announced by the Home Office. From 9 August, the Royal Society and Arts Council England will be allowed to nominate up to 300 people each; and the Royal Academy of Engineering and the British Academy 200 people each.
