Lords to scrutinise roles of chief scientific advisers

The House of Lords Science and Technology Committee has launched an inquiry into the role of departmental chief scientific advisers, including the extent of their influence over research spending. The inquiry is in response to Liberal Democrat MP Julian Huppert’s warning that Bernard Silverman, CSA for the Home Office, was not taken seriously in his role at the department.
