Policy researchers at RAND assess grant giving in a world beyond peer review

Peer review is not always the best way to allocate research funding, a report by policy-research organisation RAND Europe has concluded.

Alternatives to Peer Review in Research Project Funding, funded by a Department of Health policy research programme and published this week, evaluates nine alternative systems that are used around the world.
