Welsh institutions get green light to increase fees

The Higher Education Funding Council for Wales has given 10 universities and two further education colleges permission to charge tuition fees of up to £9,000. The fees will apply to students from outside Wales. The assembly government will supply fees grants for Welsh-domiciled students, wherever they choose to study, to cover the costs of fees above £3,465.
