Animal welfare organisations are calling on companies and regulatory authorities around the world to adopt a new standard for testing the teratogenic effects of chemicals, which would cut the numbers of animals used.
The International Council on Animal Protection in OECD Programmes is an alliance between the British Union for Abolition of Vivisection and 10 other international organisations. It is demanding the widespread adoption of a reproductive toxicity test approved by the OECD on 28 July.
