Tanzanian scientist Julie Makani has been named as winner of the Royal Society’s Pfizer award.
Makani, from the haematology department at Muhimbili University, will receive £60,000 towards a 12-month study that aims to provide a better understanding of the molecular, genetic and environmental mechanisms of sickle cell disease.
