EPSRC: energy networks grand challenge – integrating energy storage for future energy networks

The Research Councils UK energy programme, led by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, invites proposals that address the energy networks grand challenge: integrating energy storage for future energy networks.

This challenge focuses on the electricity grid moving towards 2050. Proposals are invited that adopt a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to a combination of some or all of the following themes: whole systems and techno-economics; technology breakthroughs for large scale applications; new innovative technologies; operational management and planning of energy storage for system integration; materials and manufacturing innovation. Proposals should focus on long-term goals and lead to a step change in current knowledge and a positive societal or economic impact.
