HEFCE analysis shows universities pay their way

UK universities contribute more than £3 billion a year to the economy, says a Higher Education Funding Council for England analysis. Its 10th annual Higher Education—Business and Community Interaction survey suggests the value of UK knowledge exchange rose from £2.97 billion in 2008-09 to £3.09bn in 2009-10. It also shows increases in the volume of collaborative research and income from turning ideas into products and services.
