Merger will lead to animal lab closures, claims union

Laboratory services at more than half of the Animal Health and Veterinary Laboratories Agency’s regional centres are set to close, the union Prospect has said.

According to Prospect, the proposal to close eight of the agency’s 14 on-site labs came in a plan submitted to environment secretary Caroline Spelman on 1 September.
