Minister defends FSS closure and promises to maintain archive

The Home Office has rebutted concerns over the future of the Forensic Science Service’s cold-case archive of some 1.5 million case files dating back to the 1940s, reported Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour on 28 September.

Helen Kenny, secretary of the prospect union’s FSS branch, said she was worried about how the archive could be accessed—and by whom—after the FSS closes in March 2012.
