A total of 41 universities, research charities and lobby groups have signed a declaration promising openness in animal research in the wake of a poll confirming a decline in public support. The campaign is led by Understanding Animal Research and backed by the Wellcome Trust, the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry, Cancer Research UK and 15 universities, among others.
