Immigration desperation

Forget London Met, Camden registry office could be next to see long queues at its doors as a result of tighter immigration rules. Hosting a press briefing with David Willetts about George Osborne’s new science investments, Paul Nurse, chief executive of the Francis Crick medical research centre, told of a unique, if optimistic strategy. “One of the philosophies behind the Crick Institute is to attract young scientists from around the world, train them and make sure they fall in love with someone who lives locally,” he reassured the meeting. Clearly a watertight plan.
