Hawking honoured with $3m physics prize

British physicist Stephen Hawking has been awarded the world’s largest science prize, worth $3 million, from the Fundamental Physics Prize Foundation.

Hawking was awarded the Special Fundamental Physics Prize on 11 December for his contributions to quantum gravity and quantum aspects of the early universe, and his discovery of Hawking radiation.
