1994 Group warns of postgraduate ‘disaster’

The slashing of teaching funding for postgraduate education needs to be reconsidered, the 1994 Group of smaller, research-intensive universities has said in a report. The group says the government’s reform of higher education will create barriers to postgraduate education and have a long-term negative impact on the UK economy. To prevent such damage, it says, the government must ensure that research council funding for postgraduate students continues.
