Cable calls for long-term plan for new technologies

Business secretary Vince Cable has urged Prime Minister David Cameron to back his plans for a long-term industrial strategy, including the identification and support of new technologies, the Financial Times reported on 12 February.

The newspaper quotes a letter to the prime minister and deputy prime minister Nick Clegg, in which Cable said, “There is something important missing: a compelling vision of where the country is heading beyond sorting out the fiscal mess; a clear and confident message about how we will earn our living in future.”
