Royal Society issues warning over military applications of neuroscience

Funding for neuroscience research could be being diverted away from medicine and psychiatry in favour of military applications, the chairman of a Royal Society working group has said.

In a statement to mark the publication of ‘Neuroscience, Conflict and Security’, Rod Flower, a professor of biochemical pharmacology, said funding decisions in this area should be subject to close ethical scrutiny.
