UK researchers take on Elsevier over Congress row

Stephen Curry, professor of structural biology at Imperial College London, is the latest senior UK researcher to go public and refuse a request from Anglo-Dutch publisher Elsevier to review a paper in a paid-for journal.

Curry’s decision, announced on 28 January, follows that of Fields medallist Tim Gowers, professor of mathematics at the University of Cambridge, his Cambridge colleague, geneticist Michael Ashburner and many more.
