Private forensic firm ‘may endanger convictions’

Serious crime convictions may have to be reviewed after an error by private firm LGC Forensics led to the acquittal of a suspected rapist, reports the Guardian.

According to the newspaper, the company has admitted that a sample at one of its laboratories became so contaminated it could not be offered as evidence, leading to the collapse of a case in Manchester this week.
