BBSRC tells its institutes their fate

The Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council has informed its six institutes of their core grants for 2012-17, but will not make the results public until mid-May. The council has spent the last year assessing the centres and is allocating institute strategic programme grants, as well as new national capability and knowledge exchange and commercialisation grants, based on the review. In line with the council’s published delivery plan, the institutes will see strategic programme grant spending fall from £57 million this year to £51m in 2014-15.
