Renewable energy investment sees recovery

A report by the US-based Pew charitable trust has estimated that a total of $9.4 billion (£5.9bn) was invested in renewable energy in the UK in 2011, compared with $3.3bn in 2010, reports the Guardian.

This rise follows a slump in 2010 where spending fell from $11bn the previous year, with the UK falling from the third highest investor of G20 countries to 13th.
