Universities join protest on charity tax breaks

UK universities including Oxford and Cambridge have backed protests against the government’s plans to limit tax breaks on charitable giving, the Times reported on 13 April.

Andrew Hamilton, vice-chancellor of the University of Oxford, has written to Chancellor George Osborne to express his concerns. He warned that the plan, announced in the budget, “risks undermining the culture” of university philanthropy.
