£40bn infrastructure guarantee scheme launched

The UK government has launched a programme to underwrite up to £40 billion of investment in infrastructure. The UK Guarantees scheme aims to “kick-start critical infrastructure projects that may have stalled because of adverse credit conditions”. Eligible research-related projects in the plan include the Technology Strategy Board’s catapult centres, the Francis Crick Institute, and science and innovation campuses such as those at Babraham, Daresbury, Harwell and Norwich.
