Human Tissue Authority hopes to retain regulatory role

The Human Tissue Authority has argued that it should be allowed to retain its regulatory functions as a separate organisation in a shake up of health agencies.

Having considered three options for its future function, the agency says this is the best way to ensure the safe and ethical use of human tissues. It made the case in its response to a Department of Health consultation on the future of fertility and human tissue regulators. This sets out options for the HTA and the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority.
