London Met offers hotline over visa worries

London Metropolitan University has set up a hotline to help international students who are unsure of their status after the university’s power to sponsor visas was suspended in July, reports the Guardian.

The UK Border Agency made the suspension in order to clarify issues raised in two recent audits. But this has made it impossible for London Met to confirm that its international students would be able to come to the UK when they are due to start a course or return to one this autumn. The university said it was finding it difficult to alert all 2,600 affected international students to the problem.
