Study says students are key to spin-off success

Commercialisation of start-up companies at universities requires the input of graduate and post-doctoral students, according to a study by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation in the US.

In an analysis of commercialisation attempts at eight major US institutions, the authors found that partnerships between faculty and experienced entrepreneurs would be ideal, but that some businesses are reluctant to join a start-up.
