UK universities’ income from contract research grows over decade

UK universities’ income from contract research grew 53 per cent from £688 million (€878m) in 2003-4 to more than £1 billion in 2010-11.

The data were revealed in the Higher Education Funding Council for England’s annual report Higher Education – Business and Community Interaction Survey, published on 26 July. The survey includes data from 159 of the UK’s 163 publicly funded universities.
