Physics boosts Welsh economy, but more innovation is vital

Physics-based businesses contribute £2.3 billion to the Welsh economy every year, but there was a 10 per cent fall in employment in the field between 2008-10, an Institute of Physics study has found.

In a report, ‘The Importance of Physics to the Welsh Economy’, published on 19 March, the IoP investigated the effects of advances and knowledge gained by physicists.
