Six UK research institutes are being recognised with Athena SWAN awards for excellence in gender equality in science, technology, engineering and mathematics employment.
The announcement comes on the day that a further 65 research institutes including Cern become eligible to participate in the programme.
The six awards were gained during a pilot study for institutes. The John Innes Centre was granted a silver award in the pilot, while the British Geological Survey, James Hutton Institute, MRC National Institute for Medical Research, Pirbright Institute, and Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute received bronze awards.
