Health and safety puts children off science, says Lovelock

Environmentalist James Lovelock, best known for coming up with the Gaia theory, has argued that children are failing to be inspired by science because of health and safety precautions.

Lovelock was speaking in an interview with The Telegraph, published on 8 April, ahead of an exhibition about him at the Science Museum in London.

“Health and safety is awful,” he is reported to have said, “It’s become like a fake religion and it’s having a significant impact on education."
