Mobility money

Highlight the specificity of your request to secure a travel grant

Earlier this year, Rebecca Walker, a research fellow in chemistry at the University of Aberdeen, needed access to special techniques to put the finishing touches to her PhD. She ended up travelling to Warsaw for that, assisted by a researcher mobility grant from the Royal Society of Chemistry.

These grants are open to early-career researchers who can ask for up to £5,000 for either one-off or multiple visits to the same organisation over two years, or individual visits of up to three months. If applying to travel within the UK or the Republic of Ireland, applicants can ask for up to £3,000 for a one-off visit. Each year there are two rounds, with 21 October the deadline for this year’s second round.
