More than a third of PhD students suffer anxiety and depression

   

Paper reveals PhD students feel isolated and many witness bullying or discrimination

More than a third of PhD students have sought help for anxiety or depression explicitly related to their doctorate, according to the Higher Education Policy Institute.

In a paper for the higher education think tank, King’s College London PhD student Bethan Cornell found that 37 per cent of PhD students have asked for support for anxiety and depression caused by their studies.
