Bigger research teams ‘don’t always mean better results’

Collaboration not always key to excellence in research, Wolverhampton study warns

Researchers at the University of Wolverhampton have produced evidence that challenges the current orthodoxy that collaboration between members of large teams will produce better-quality studies.

A team led by Mike Thelwall, professor of information science and head of the university’s statistical cybermetrics and research evaluation group, published their findings online in the Journal of the Association for Information Science and Technology.
