Physicists call for future funding guarantee

Peter Knight, president of the Institute of Physics, has called on the government to commit to increasing funding for science once the nation has recovered from the financial crisis.

“If the government shares our view that research excellence can restore Britain’s economic vibrancy, why not make a firm commitment for the future, to renewed investment in the science base?” asked Knight, speaking at the institute’s Awards Ceremony on 6 October.
