The Society of Biology has written to Alex Salmond, Scotland’s First Minister, to urge him to fill two vacant positions of departmental chief scientists and a chief scientific adviser.
It says the government positions of chief scientists for health and environment have been vacant for a year and have been advertised only in the last week.
