RSC chief calls for end to science spending freeze

The UK has a short-sighted approach to science spending compared to its international peers, the chief executive of the Royal Society of Chemistry, Robert Parker, has said.

Speaking at the opening of the RSC’s office in Ochanomizu, Tokyo, on 1 November, Parker said that the UK should end its freeze on science spending. Inflation had already led to a 5 per cent drop in science funding, he said.
