An international consortium of over 20 hospital-based clinical research networks has been set up to make sure researchers around the world are ready to tackle pandemics.
As well as doing clinical research, the International Severe Acute Respiratory Infection Consortium will develop and implement standardised protocols, metrics and data-sharing processes. It will also make sure researchers around the world have considered the ethical implications of their work.
