Chemistry leader calls for ‘pragmatic’ response to funding cuts

David Phillips, the president of the Royal Society of Chemistry, has said the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council’s decision to reduce funding for synthetic organic chemistry was “objective”.

It is now up to the chemists in the field to be “pragmatic” and look for funding elsewhere—potentially by working in research areas that the EPSRC wants to grow, he says.
