British Academy president urges government to rethink student visa curbs

The historian Adam Roberts, president of the British Academy, has said it is “high time” for the Home Office to rethink its decision to restrict non-EU student visas.

In a letter in The Guardian on 29 July, Roberts refers to a recent report by the House of Commons Home Affairs Select Committee warning that the measures will cost the UK economy up to £3.6bn over the next four years.
