Institute of Physics responds to Willetts’ NPL plans

The president of the Institute of Physics has described the UK government’s decision not to renew a private contractor’s license to run the National Physical Laboratory as a “commitment to a long-term future for NPL”.

On 27 November, science minister David Willetts said the government had decided not to renew a contract with private company Serco for the running of the NPL and will instead seek out academic partners to take over the centre.
