The Royal Society of Chemistry has welcomed the development of tests to detect poisons in shellfish without using animals.
The method from the Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science will not require the use of mice, and has been hailed as a “great example of chemical ingenuity” by Jim Iley, RSC science director.
